Will is currently the Vice-Chairman of the club but has also served as the Senior Fixtures Secretary for five seasons.
While he occasionally still plays, he’s more often found in the middle of the pitch with a whistle, ensuring games are played smoothly.
Getting Involved
Will’s journey with St Neots Rugby Club began when he moved to the area. Looking to continue playing rugby, he joined the club and quickly got involved with volunteering. Moving to a new place can be daunting, but for Will, the club provided a welcoming community of like-minded people that made the transition easier.
Why St Neots Rugby Club?
St Neots Rugby Club prides itself on being a community club, offering rugby for all. Inclusivity is at the heart of everything the club does, and Will is a passionate advocate for ensuring everyone has the opportunity to play the sport.
Beyond Rugby
When he’s not involved in rugby, Will enjoys dog walks and DIY projects - though, as any volunteer knows, the rugby work never truly stops! Whether it’s organising fixtures, ensuring smooth operations, or planning ahead, there’s always something to be done.
Advice for New Volunteers
Will’s advice is simple: "Put yourself out there - you’ll be welcomed in! Volunteering takes many different forms, and it doesn’t have to mean standing on the sidelines. It can be shaped around your availability and the skills you can offer."
The Future of St Neots Rugby Club
Will hopes to see the club continue to provide opportunities for people to play rugby and develop as players and individuals. At a time when many clubs are shrinking or folding, St Neots Rugby Club is bucking the trend - something he hopes will continue for many years to come.
Thank you, Will, for your dedication and commitment to St Neots Rugby Club!
