Tommy Steps Challenge

Our own Club Captain, Woo, has been doing his bit during January undertaking the Royal British Legion Tommy Steps challenge (www.rbli.co.uk/tommystep). This is a 155 mile walking challenge to replicate and honour the fighting retreat made by Tommies to Dunkirk.

There were 3 options for the challenge:

1. CORPORAL CHALLENGE - Complete 10k steps every day for the 31 days of
January.
2. PARATROOPER CHALLENGE - Complete 10k steps every day for 31 days
carrying an 80lb pack to simulate the kit carried by the average soldier of the day.
3. SPECIAL FORCES CHALLENGE - 155 miles as quickly as possible

Woo chose option 2 and has been regularly supported by members of the Club..

Today (1st Feb) he completed the challenge, walking 164 miles (don’t ask me, being a forward maths was never a strong point...) and has raised in excess of £1450.

Unfortunately he foolishly claimed that he would complete the last march in just a pair of pants if he raised over the thousand pound mark. Not surprisingly his so called mates rallied to the cause and broke the target in about 10 minutes.

You can still help Woo raise even more money for the RBLi who help veterans and their families in their time of need.
